30 foot Composite Sportfisher for Polaris Line Thailand
I was commissioned to design this 30 foot trailerable composite sportfisher for Polaris Line in Thailand.
The design is completed and construction due to begin. The boat can be optioned in polyester/e-glass or epoxy/carbon/e-glass utilising resin infusion. Option two gives a weight saving of 800Kg The boat had to have excellent performance and good seakeeping capability. Power is twin outboards 250-350Hp and the maximum displacement is 4,500Kg. Top speed will be 40 knots fully loaded with the polyester/e-glass laminate and running 2x 250Hp Top speed fully loaded with the epoxy/carbon/e-glass laminate and twin 350Hp will be 50 knots The boat has a generator and bow thruster and has WC and shower in the console In the station behind the seats is a bar fridge and BBQ with a small sink top. The aft topsides fold down to open the aft cockpit area as a large open platform. Windows in the aft topsides allow passengers to see down into the water when standing and fishing on the open platforms. The builders required a large hardtop for sun protection. This is carbon composite to save weight. |
10 metre alloy with alloy jig/trailer
I am just finishing up the cut files for this 10 metre alloy kitset boat for DIYNO Kitset Boats. A custom design for their customer, she is running an IVECO 400Hp engine coupled to a Konrad sternleg. The owner wanted a cruising speed of 18-20 knots. A challenging design as the cruising speed is the the full planing speed of the hull, but after a lot of work I am very pleased with the outcome. Top speed will be 32 knots.
The boat has minimal accommodations and will primarily be used as a day fishing boat with occasional overnighting. She will have a small Head/shower compartment, small galley and 4 berths. The owner wanted to build the boat on one of my alloy jigs that becomes the trailer. This will be the biggest trailer to date. All up weight of boat and trailer is 5 tonnes. |
WASP 9.25m Rescue Tender
I have just completed this proposal for a rescue tender for a yacht club in Australia. Utilising my WASP hull form at 9.25 metres. She has a head forward of the helm position, a small galley plus a bench seat and two crew positions inside the wheelhouse. There are side doors in the hull topsides for aiding boats and getting crew aboard easily plus the usual aft boarding point through the transom. The WASP hull form is perfect as she is very shallow draft yet has incredible rough water capability. The hull shape is very efficient and can operate at any speed. Twin engines widely spaced makes close quarter manoeuvres very easy and safe. We are pricing an alloy kit for a builder in Australia. Shown is the forward raking screen model and a more sporty model with short cabin

Ambulance BoatThis is a preliminary design and renderings for a proposal for ambulance boats in Asia. My WASP hull form is perfectly suited to this application. Very good rough water handling, very shallow draft for getting acces to patients in remote places. There are 4 access points for stretchers to be carried aboard. One side door aft each side, one over the stern and one vie a ramp through the bow. Twin 115 horsepower engines will power the boats and aircraft style seating makes the interior reconfigurable for different operations.

New range of passenger ferries for tourism operations. My WASP hull form has been chosen for its superior ride and efficient operation at any speed without the need for foils. These hulls are very dry and are shallow draft so great for setting passengers onto a beach as well.
7.25 metre WASP powercat.
18 passengers with a forward bow ramp/stairs for easy boarding and disembarking. A canvas bimini and a cruise speed of 16-18 knots. The first boat under construction will have a centrally mounted 60 horsepower outboard. Boats two and three will be powered by twin 60 horsepower outboards. |
Rêvo Boxta NRP jet boatOriginally designed to go on the back of a Rêvo 9 metre jet boat boat so the owner could explore all of South Wesland. She is an extremely capable river and open water boat. Her very soft riding hull is unusual for a jet boat and yet she can operate in very shallow rivers as well. Shown here boating up the hidden falls rapid in very low flow conditions. As the owners says "there is nowhere I can't go in this boat" Note that the trailer it sits on is a plastic trailer as well, the first in NZ and possibly the world. |

Rêvo Boxta 45 NRP V8 jet boatThe owner of the original Boxta is so impressed he wants a 4-5 seat version as well. Shown here are renderings of the Boxta 45, a 4-5 seater V8 powered jet boat.
Capable of speeds in excess of 120 Km/Hr and like her little sister very capable in rivers and open water with a soft riding hull. |
Rêvo Boxta 80
The biggest boat in the Boxta range is the Boxta 80. 80 feet of superb efficient jet driven superyacht. A very practical layout makes this a boaters boat with good access to engines and systems to ensure the maintenance is easy and reliable to make offshore passages safer. It has a 6 cabin layout with a very large owners stateroom right across the hull and features a movie lounge area on the second deck. Great deck spaces and easy access are key features to the design.
Twin 750 horsepower engines gives a top speed of 20 knots Twin 1100 horsepower engines gives a top speed of 24 knots. |
Rêvo 1402 sailing catamaran Combination FRP/NRP (non-reinforced plastic)Originally designed in alloy, after seeing the Rêvo 742 NRP powercat, the client asked if it could be designed in plastic. So it is back on the board to be re-configured for NRP construction. Designed as a live aboard for cruising the world, she features an easily handled rig for short handed sailing and a superb layout with two cockpits and an internal helm station at the front of the bridgedeck.

Rêvo 42 semi-displacement powercat combination of NRP (non-reinforced plastic) and FRP42 foot semi-displacement FRP powercat. Powered by twin 150 horsepower engines coupled to jet drives. A cost effective and practical boat with great spaces for living aboard and maintenance free NRP construction. 3 Double cabins and one head in the hulls plus a night lounge each side. Living spaces are up in the bridgedeck and a massive uncluttered deck area with aft cockpit and easy water access.

9.15 metre Non Reinforced Plastic PowercatThis boat will be cut very shortly. Designed for an Auckland client to cruise the Hauraki Gulf and beyond. Three double berths, head and shower in the hulls and galley and dining in the bridge area she caters for the whole family. Shallow draft but with our exceptional WASP sea keeping ability she is the perfect cruiser. Twin outboard engines gives superior manoeuvrability and redundancy for peace of mind and the polyethylene construction means she is as maintenance free as you can get. Designed to fit into and maximise the space of a 30 foot marina berth.

The first of the new 361 Jet kits under construction in QueenstownThese capable little boats are more fun for your dollar than any boat around. One is being built in the Waikato and another in Queenstown. Thorough design means thes boats are safer than other mini jet boats and yet extremely capable not only in rivers but open water as well. I was originally asked to design a 3 metre boat but refused to do that as the design simply would not be safe at that size. This 3.6 metre boat was my response. It can go anywhere a 3 metre boat can go but is much safer doing it and more capable across the board. As I said this is about the most fun for your dollar you can have in a boat. The boat shown here is being built on one of my jig/trailer options where the alloy jig becomes the trailer. And these are the best alloy trailers available. The builders and owners love them almost as much as the boats themselves! |
