Jim Pauling's formal training started at Lloyd Stevenson Boatbuilders after he was
offered an apprenticeship there in 1986. He quit his accounting studies to take up the
offer of the apprenticeship and became a qualified boat builder. It gave him the chance
to pursue his life long passion of designing and building boats.
Through the
boatbuilding apprenticeship he acquired skills in Yacht design, but yearned to know
and understand even more, leading to extensive study and research.
His yearning for knowledge paid off in 1998, when he won the NASNZ design
competition. Entering as an amateur, he won 1st prize overall, beating professional
designers to the top prize and taking home the overall prize of Autoship design
software.
After managing LSB for four years, in which time he was involved in projects from
designers all over the globe, he made the decision to pursue his own design career,
confident he could offer a better design service.
Operating as Jim Pauling Yacht Design, he also started Revolution Yachts effectively
as a research and development company to further refine his designs.
Revolution
Yachts works with a select group of sub-contractors who are chosen as the best in
their fields, ensuring high quality and efficiency.
Revolution Yachts only builds Revo designs.
